Desert Oasis is a residential project designed for Trona, California, situated within the harsh conditions of the Mojave Desert. The home is organized as a continuous ring surrounding a central courtyard, using passive ventilation to draw hot air from the interior and exhaust it upward through the open core. Large-scale operable windows promote cross-ventilation and seasonal airflow, reducing reliance on mechanical cooling. In contrast to the surrounding arid landscape, the exterior is conceived as an oasis; using shade, enclosure, and microclimate strategies to create a livable, temperate refuge within the desert environment.
